2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Club in Naples, Florida is looking for a 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
This is a transitional position to provide guidance for an individual’s growth and promotion in the golf course industry.

The 2nd Assistant Superintendent plans, directs, supervises and inspects all aspects of maintenance of the golf course and common grounds under the direct supervision of the 1st Assistant Superintendent.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Schedules, trains, supervises and monitors performance of all personnel assigned to department.
• Ensures all work guidelines are followed.
• Supervises and participates in morning set-up of course and maintains course in proper playing condition.
• Maintains all grounds and course maintenance equipment.
• Records all maintenance on course.
• Assists in operation of and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems in conjunction with Irrigation Technician.
• Supervises all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.
• Search the course regularly for insects, weeds and diseases. Diagnose observations and take corrective action after discussion with Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent.
• Insures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
• Maintains accurate application records and logs for weather work and cultural practices as required.
• Attend seminars for continued professional development.
• Performs the duties of the 1st Assistant Superintendent when absent.

Requirements:
Associate Degree in Turf Grass Science or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science or soil science) or desire to work towards receiving appropriate education through our golf club scholarship program.
Willing to train the right individual with strong work experience as assistant-in-training, irrigation technician or spray technician.
Must be computer proficient. Knowledge of windows-based programs such as Word, Excel.
Must be able to use email and utilize internet.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Florida Restricted Use Pesticide Application License preferred or be working towards attaining license within 3 months.
Fluency in the Spanish language is desirable, but not required.
Ability to plan, train, supervise and delegate all tasks necessary for the maintenance of the golf course.
Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally with all supervisors and golf course personnel.
Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs.
Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play.
Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments.

Compensation:
$45,000 – $55,000 per year.
