Full-time 1st Assistant Golf Professional
Golf course in Phenix City, Alabama is looking for a Full-time 1st Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Under direction greets and assists golfers with selections, orders, prices and stocks merchandise, assembles display units; makes hole assignments and receives payment on greens fees; assists in organizing and conducting golf tournaments, posts scores and presents trophies to winning teams; organizes and instructs gold clinics; monitors employee performance and interprets guidelines and directives, trains and orients staff on procedures and proper use of equipment and performs additional tasks in support of the department as needed or upon request.

Duties & Responsibilities:
A. Operating Pro Shop (55%) – Greets and assists golfers in signing in on course register. Makes hole assignments, issues score cards, receives payment and issues greens fee receipt. Operates cash register and collects money for fees; operates electronic credit machine for non-cash payments. Sells hold merchandise to include clubs, golf balls and golf apparel. Counts money taken in during the day and prints register tape and prepares deposit slip. Forwards deposit to City Clerk’s office. Ensures that golf supplies are kept in stock. Copies and stocks score cards. Assembles display units received from vendors and organizes equipment displays. Prepares and posts flyers in the golf shop of specials or other notifications. Orders, receives, prices and stocks merchandise in pro shop. Reviews invoice sheet to determine retail mark-up on incoming inventory. Cleans and maintain golf shop to include cleaning windows, dusting and organizing shelves. Monitors grounds and patio area surrounding golf shop to ensure area is kept neat and orderly.

B. Golf Pro Assistance and Tournaments (15%) – Assists in conducting golf tournaments by preparing score cards for participants and documenting score board. Using graphic software prepares cart signs indicating players and hole assignments. Prepares and copies rule sheets and distributes to golfers. Posts scores to scoreboard daily and tallies at the end of the tournament. Presents trophies and prizes to winning team. Receives USGA handicap posting and cap sheet and transmits scores to USGA via computer. Organizes and instructs gold clinics. Prepares pamphlets, flyers and print advertisement to market golf instructions.

C. Coaching and Leadership (15%) – Interprets orders and directives to crew members. Ensures that safety regulations are followed. Resolves minor work related problems. Trains and orients new staff on procedures and use of equipment. Monitors employee performance and assists in performing various tasks. Advises and informs supervisor regarding performance and disciplinary actions.

D. Services to Department (15%) – Repairs broken or damaged golf clubs to include re-shaftening and replacing grips. Organizes staff meeting and informs golf-course personnel. Organizes stock room and performs inventory of supplies. Attaches work order to broken or malfunctioning golf carts for repair by mechanic. Performs additional tasks as assigned or upon request.

Requirements:
Must have high school education, GED or equivalent training and experience.
Meet appropriate certification requirements.
Substantial knowledge of golf including scheduling of play, handicapping, scoring, golf etiquette and equipment.
Knowledge of organization and management of tournaments and special events.
Knowledge of operations, rules and procedures of golf course.
Knowledge of golf course etiquette and/or procedures preferred.
Have a high school education, GED or equivalent training and experience.
Meet appropriate certification requirements.

Compensation:
$12.7835 per hour.
